Arranging Large Rugs

The most important thing to remember when coordinating area rugs in an open floor plan is that they should share a similar color palette or at least have one or two colors in common.

Place an 8 by 10 foot rug in front of a sofa allowing a few inches of open floor space in front. 8 x 10 or 9 x 12 king size bed remember the bigger is better rule when it comes to arranging an area rug under a king size bed. The last element of a living room furniture layout is also the easiest.
